Artists in Chulucanas City in Northern Peru have hand-thrown this unique pottery for generations—a traditional local craft that dates back to pre-Incan times. The pottery follows an elaborate process and is tended to by several artisans. Some pound the clay to the correct consistency, others hand-turn it on a wheel to create the vessel and yet another specialist bakes it in a kiln. A cold, matte black glaze is the finishing touch. It's ancient artistry for the modern home.
